More Weigel. More Asleep. More Podcast. And more Mud Luscious Press.

It's like Day Four Hundred of the quite awesome Asleep book tour 2010 and today Sally and Too Young to Fall Asleep are making an appearance at the Mud Luscious Press. The crew there asked if we could help out with this stop and we are happy to let you know that we have and keeping with the themes, or if you prefer compulsions, of the last week we recorded a podcast with Sally, Episode Twenty-Six of our ongoing This Podcast Will Change Your Life series for those of you scoring at home, and it is now available at Mud Luscious for your listening pleasure. Please also note that Day Four of Sally's tour happened right here at This Blog Will Change Your Life and the Bosworthian video we recorded is also still available for your consumption.

Today we bring you a Bosworthian homage of video and literary madness. Or if you prefer, the Sally Weigel virtual book tour: Day Four.

Today we are most honored to host Day Four of Sally Weigel's virtual book tour, also known as the Asleep book tour 2010. She is celebrating the release of her terrific novella Too Young to Fall Asleep and we decided that our contribution would be an homage to the equally terrific Mel Bosworth hosted Big Other Reading Series. Please enjoy.

"Catherine looks down at the space below her knees where her lower legs are supposed to be. Throwing the covers over the off-putting sight, Catherine suddenly becomes overwhelmed again with everything it represents. She forgets the annoying yet comforting banter between her sisters, loses the memories of drinking whiskey with her fellow soldiers, unable to think of anything but how her old feminine features are now unrecognizable. As she looks around at the white, sterile walls surrounding her, she grabs the journal beside her bed. She peers outside at a blue, cloudless sky, and summer leaves that rustle against the glass.

I wish I could be a sound of a chirping bird flying south. I wish I could be the sound of subway tracks shaking a building. I wish I could be the soft clamor of snow hitting the ground. I wish I could be the echo of a car speeding down the open road at two in the morning. I wish I could be a morning conversation over a coffee and a scone. I wish I could be the reverberation of high heels hitting a wood dancefloor, letting rhythm control the body. I wish I could be the sound of a bouncing ball, falling into the street, as a child looks both ways before darting after the tragic loss. I wish I could be a yawn. I wish I didn’t have to question my existence but could just acknowledge that it’s beautiful."

The Asleep book tour 2010 is coming. You want some? Of course you do.

TBWCYL, Inc. favorite and CCLaP stablemate, is that right, or is it label mate, that doesn't sound right either frankly, anyway, Sally Weigel of Too Young to Fall Asleep fame, and a This Zine Will Change Your Life contributor, is embarking on a virtual book tour in support of Too Young to Fall Asleep, which is not so dissimilar from the tour TBWCYL, Inc. spokesperson Ben Tanzer went on following the release of Repetition Patterns, and we here to not only hype it, but let you know that we will be participating in it as well, with Sally appearing here at This Blog Will Change Your Life on April 1st and then with our support at Mud Luscious on April 7th. We expect good times to be had by all. We also expect lives to change, many, many lives.

Repetition Patterns and the Sony Reader. A match made in CCLaP heaven?

Jason Pettus and his fine team over at CCLaP have a big write-up on their blog about the challenges and triumphs of making Repetition Patterns, as well as Too Young To Fall Asleep, available via Sony Reader. Cool stuff for sure, and what we can only assume is but one more micro-step towards worldwide media domination.

We got paid. And we are most appreciative.

In a galaxy far, far away, the fine team at CCLaP foretold the day when the Repetition Patterns money would be most bountiful and the rewards would be shared by all. That day has come to pass and so it was that this past Saturday night at the CCLaP Royalty Party the money flowed and it was most sweet. Most.

Money, money, money. And a CCLaP Royalty Payout Party this Saturday, December 5th.

CCLaP is rocking the Uncommon Ground this weekend and paying both TBWCYL, Inc. spokesperson Ben Tanzer and TBWCYL, Inc. favorite Sally Weigel their first $100 in royalties for their respective CCLaP publications - Repetition Patterns and Too Young Too Fall Asleep. We suspect this gathering will change lives, and for the better, though please note that if it doesn't, drinks will still be drunk and money will exchange hands, so at a minimum, there will at least be some happiness.

Stuff.

Maybe its the work travel. Or the fact that we have been so self-absorbed lately. It could just be the fact that we have been unable to concentrate on anything but the once imminent now very real release of New Moon. But things have been missed, stuff has been overlooked and an array of TBWCYL, Inc. favorites have not received the airspace here they deserve. We however intend to fix that like now:

(1) Sally Weigel the author of Too Young to Fall Asleep recently did a fine interview with the Orange Alert;

(2) The J.A. Tyler has a recording and interview with the always awesome Apostrophe Cast; and

(3) Our boy Mel Bosworth's new collection of short stories and flash fiction When The Cats Razzed the Chicken & Other Stories is now officially available for your consumption.

This is good stuff, right, totally, you don't even need to answer that, just check it out, all of it, immediately, because it just might change your life. For reals.

Too Young to Fall Asleep by Sally Weigel.

As previously announced Jason Pettus and his minions over at CCLaP have a new joint out Too Young to Fall Asleep by Sally Weigel. As also previously discussed we promised to re-consume Sally's novel and then report back on it here, right here. And so to loosely paraphrase the always awesome Otis Day, let's hit it. Too Young to Fall Asleep takes something we all think we know, high school, and intersects it with something we don't yet understand, the impact of the Iraq War. What's unique of course, is that it seeks to accomplish all this, just as movies like In the Valley of Elah, Stop Loss and now The Hurt Locker have tried to do as well, by capturing the essence of living during a time of war while the war being explored is actually happening, no time to look back, no time to reflect. It's a big and awesome task, and Sally has jumped-in feet first, planting her stake in the still shifting ground, and establishing a precedent for all of the Iraq War literature that is sure to follow.

Ah, youth. Or, should we just say that CCLaP is officially releasing its first novella - Too Young to Fall Asleep by the quite wonderful Sally Weigel?

Very exciting stuff. The fine folks at CCLaP who very generously released Repetition Patterns last fall are back with their newest entry into the world of pay what you want e-literature, Sally Weigel's novella Too Young to Fall Asleep. We saw an early version of the book and were quite taken with it. We plan to re-read it shortly however and will report back to you with all of our quasi-formal and terribly objective thoughts and reactions. In the interim though please do visit the CCLaP website where you can take a look at the variety of Too Young to Fall Asleep offerings, including an interview with Sally and a brief "passing the torch" essay by none other than TBWCYL, Inc, spokesperson Ben Tanzer.
