CellStories CNN coolness.

Quite cool to see a big shout-out for the CellStories on CNN Tech today. They are highlighted in a piece on Summer reading via one's cellphone and even score a quote by founder Dan Sinker. To check TBWCYL, Inc. spokesperson Ben Tanzer's story That's It on CellStories you may do so here and for some excerpt from the CNN piece please feel free to keep reading.

"This free publishing project by Dan Sinker features works in several genres by several authors -- with a fair amount of work that's offbeat or slightly bizarre. CellStories are specifically not available for computer-based reading; you can access the stories only from a phone.

Sinker explains: "Why would you want to read something amazing while sitting at a desk? Instead, grab a beer and sprawl out on the couch, or take your lunch break under a shady tree, and then read. Much better, right?"

We have new piece. "More Than Anything" is up at the Necessary Fiction and we are most appreciative.

We are quite thrilled and most appreciative to have a new piece up at the Necessary Fiction. It is titled More Than Anything and it is part of a group of quasi-interlocking stories we worked on last summer which also include Goddess at Annalemma, So Different Now at Dogzplot, That's It at CellStories and Never Said at Girls With Insurance. We would add that Spider-Man makes a brief appearance in this piece, well, the idea of Spider-Man anyway, and that for your reading pleasure we have pasted a brief excerpt below.

“So,” she says smiling, “do you think this guy is stalking you or what?”

They are going out to lunch together. She is the intern. She is young and vibrant, if a little weird and awkward, with her interest in graphic novels, Spider-Man, and him, all things he is interested in as well.

He normally makes it a point to avoid the younger employees, especially the female ones.

He wants to get to work, get what needs to be done, done, and then get home to his wife, and his real life.

Because that’s the thing, like Spider-Man he lives in two worlds, and his real life has little to do with work or who he is at work."

New piece. Never Said. Girls With Insurance. Nice.

Yes, quite geeked we are. We have a new piece up at the Girls with Insurance titled Never Said and it is part of the recent group of stories written by TBWCYL, Inc. spokesperson Ben Tanzer following and inspired by the Repetition Patterns virtual book tour. Some of the stories from the group already published include Goddess at Annalemma, That's It at CellStories and So Different Now at Dogzplot. We want to thank P.H. Madore and the crew at Girls with Insurance for running with this one and for your reading pleasure, please enjoy a brief excerpt below.

"We’re at the Park Diner. My dad Tommie is sitting across from me. He looks haggard, tired. His skin is pasty and washed-out. He’s not talking, so I’m not talking either, but it doesn’t matter because it’s hanging there between us.

Cancer.

Motherfucker.

“Don’t look so upset kid,” my dad finally says, “it’s going to be fine.”

I look away so he won’t notice that I’m crying and I see the painting of Icarus across the room. The painting has been there forever which means that Icarus has been falling forever as well, no respite in sight.

“What’s next?” I ask.

“I could go home and die,” my dad says, “one doctor already suggested that, or I can try this new experimental trial they are starting at Lourdes.”

I don’t say anything.

“Look bud, I’m past normal shit, its experimental or its nothing, but there’s this hot shot doctor that just moved here and he’s bringing the trial with him.”

I’m still at a loss, how am I supposed to react to something like this, especially since I have spent a significant chunk of my life hating him and hoping he would die."

New piece "Goddess" at the Annalemma. Yes, that Annalemma.

Quite thrilled we are. We have a new piece titled "Goddess" up at the Annalemma and this we think is awfully cool. "Goddess" is part of a group of Binghamton stories written by TBWCYL, Inc. spokesperson Ben Tanzer inspired by and following the This Tour Will Change Your Life blog tour for Repetition Patterns. Other stories from this group include "So Different Now" at the Dogzplot and "That's It" at the CellStories. We think more are to come soon, but in the interim please do hit the Annalemma and for a brief excerpt please look below.

"
We’re in high school, its senior year and Jenny is a goddess, an untouchable goddess with a brown bob haircut, freckles, crazy green eyes and ridiculous soccer calves. Everyone wants her. Not just me, though maybe no wants her more than me, something she knows all too well."

CellStories loves us. Well, they love our new story "That's It" anyway. Which is cool with us. Totally cool.

So yeah, we are really geeked that the new and very cool Dan Sinker joint CellStories has run with our story "That's It" for today's daily dose of awesome. CellStories is accessible through any mobile devise with a Webkit-based browser, i.e, your iPhone, iPod touch or Android-based phone, and we hope you will take a look. We also though you might want to know that this story is part of a so-called "story-cycle" inspired by the discussions we had during This Book Tour Will Change Your Life about the themes - fathers, sons, chicks, substance abuse - and locations - update New York, Thirsty's, The Park Diner - in our collection Repetition Patterns. The first story published from this group was titled "So Different Now" and it ran in Dogzplot, which we were equally geeked about. We recognize that this is a lot of geeked, but please note that we are committed to having this addressed. We are also committed to sharing a mini-excerpt from the "That's It" with you at this time and we have done so below.

"I knew though that if my dad had been there and not running around with whoever he was seeing at the moment he would have told me to suck it up, that fear was for pussies."

CellStories.

Dan Sinker the founder of the now deceased, but always stellar Punk Planet has a new joint called CellStories that was highlighted in The Chicago Reader this week. He thinks that you want to read short stories on your iPhone, iPod Touch or similar mobile device. Or will anyway. And we think this could be quite cool. What do you think?
