Some much deserved Orange Alert Sunlight at Midnight, Darkness at Noon media love.

How cool is this, there is both an article in New City discussing the Chicago literary reading scene which nicely highlights among others, the work of the Jason Behrends and Orange Alert, as well as, an interview with Hosho McCreesh and Christopher Cunningham on the Kung Foox Art Collective blog where they riff on many of the topics - life, writing, and all that entails - that make Sunlight at Midnight, Darkness at Noon such an excellent and thrilling read. Good stuff, yes? Yes, now please take a look, it just might change your life.

Pink. Clone. New City. Preview. Reading. Friday. The Book Cellar.

We were quite geeked to see that the Sam Pink got quite a kind write-up for I Am Going To Clone Myself Then Kill The Clone and Eat It in New City this week as their preview for this Friday's reading at The Book Cellar, where Sam is reading with the lovely Amy Guth and TBWCYL, Inc. spokesperson Ben Tanzer in support of Scott McClanahan and his killer short story collection Stories. Among other things, the reviewer had the following to say:

"Sam Pink’s oddball little book is filled with first-person passages and rants that begin with mundane reality and often finish in bizarro fantasy, usually with some element of violence, disgust or aching simplicity."

New City Lit 50.

The New City annual Lit 50 list is out, with the theme this year being "Who really books in Chicago." They decided not to focus on any straight-up writers or poets this year, which is probably good for our egos here at headquarters, and they sort of ignored the whole blogosphere, for example the fine team at Pete Lit, one of our first podcasts, or the crew at Orange Alert, not to mention the ladies of QUICKIES! and Pilcrow, podcasted here and here respectively, but they still listed a number of friends and supporters of ours who we would argue do not get nearly enough attention otherwise. These include, Oprah (#1), well okay, not Oprah, and no we haven't podcasted with her, yet, but does include among others Suzy T. from the Book Cellar (#34), Gina Frangello from Other Voices' Books (#37) and Caroline Picard from the Green Lantern Press (#45) the latter of whom we did podcast with way back when. Overall, its an interesting list, and mostly comprehensive, and frankly, anyone who wants to take the time to list literary anything is pretty awesome as far as we are concerned, so big props to New City for the support and attention.
