New joint. Running Late. [PANK].
Big thanks to Roxanne Gay and the whole [PANK] crew for running with this. Excerpt maybe? Word.
It is your kid."
"You are running late, always running late to pick up the older one at
daycare, and it is five dollars for every minute passed 6:00pm. Which
is already late enough as it is, but there you are again, trying to do
one last thing in the office, missing a train, sitting on a train,
stopping to buy the kid a snack at the scary bodega on Division, and
running through the rain to not be late.
Because you are so close, the watch reading, 5:55, then 5:56,
suddenly 5:58, but you are at the door now, buzzing and bursting in,
where it is so quiet that it’s not clear to you whether any children are
still there at all.
Then you see them, a group of kids and the teacher, the young guy,
all of them fresh-faced and sweaty, sitting in a big group, leaning
forward and intently looking at something.
You slow down, you try to catch your breath, and you tell yourself
that it’s okay, everything will be okay.
You walk up to see what
everyone is looking at.

"Vibrant." My Father's House gets Pank'd. And likes it. A lot.
Big thanks to the always stellarific [PANK] and long-time TBWCYL, Inc. favorite J.A. Tyler for the My Father's House review goodness and kind words. Drinks on us for all you kids when next we meet. Now, how about some excerpt? Sweet."This is a book that thrives on sadness and intimacy, following a father’s journey to death and his son’s somewhat reluctant trailing behind, putting both cancer and relationships on vibrant display. And while Tanzer is best known for his pop-culture references and quirky dialogue, My Father’s House is much more straight-laced in its approach, more refined in its handling of a narrative that is entirely genuine."

Nothing or Next to Nothing. Review. Pank. Whoot.
We have been terrifically geeked to check out long time TBWCYL, Inc. favorite and This Podcast Will Change Your Life podcastee Barry Graham's soon to be released novella Nothing or Next to Nothing by the stellar Main Street Rag and are now geeked squared after reading this quite fine early review from the Pank. So, please do take a look, please pre-order and please be prepared to have any and all of this change your life, because we think it will, a lot, like now even."Nothing or Next to Nothing works. It doesn’t try to be too clever despite the non linear storytelling. It is as gentle-paced as amphetamine and inhabits a universe diametrically opposite from the Waltons."

99 Problems. PANK. And the unfirm line.
“It is also clear to me that age brings fear, and there is no doubt that everything scares me more than it used to.”
Ben Tanzer, 99 Problems
Never been a scaredy cat, never been worried about what went bump next to me in the dark. However, Tanzer reaches a point of truth, albeit parental truth.
I have never known fear like I have as a parent. I am sure this is no grand epiphany. However it is pure.

Bradley. PANK. Interview. Words.
In preparing to hype the interview we just read with Ryan Bradley at the PANK we do need to ask ourselves if are we in anyway biased given Ryan's good looks and role at the Artistically Declined? The answer, maybe, we do enjoy being biased here at TBWCYL, Inc. headquarters. But even is this were true, and we're not totally saying it is, can you really beat the following exchange? We think not. What are some other things that you would make into a bed and sleep on?
Words. I think words would be incredibly comfortable and comforting, not like numbers which would be unsettling and fear-inducing. A bed of music would also be quite welcome. I think it would have to be made exclusively with The Beatles’ music in order to meet its maximum potential.

These Books Will Change Your Life - One Damn Thing After Another by Tim Hall and How To Take Yourself Apart How To Make Yourself Anew by Aaron Burch.
We are travel. We are read. And we are small press love. First up, One Damn Thing After Another by Tim Hall and released by Outsider Writers Collective and Press. We know the Tim Hall and while the Tim Hall is a funny dude, the pieces in this collection reflect just how well he does humor. It also reflects something that is as Hallian as anything. Tim Hall is indie, and few people capture and dissect the indie scene and scenesters like him. We would add, that the opening piece in the collection Further Notes on the Impossibility of Everything first appeared in This Zine Will Change Your Life and this of course we find most cool. And second, How To Take Yourself Apart How To Make Yourself Anew by Aaron Burch and released by PANK. This beautiful looking and head-jangling collection is about myth, the creation of myths, the myths of the father and what we think we've learned from both even if what we've learned is myth as well. Quite fine stuff all-around from both of these guys and more to come later in the week. For real.

Schwartz PANK Monsters awesomeness.
We suggest you hit the PANK if you would like to see a quite awesome dissection of TBWCYL, Inc. favorite Peter Schwartz's most excellent chapbook Old Men, Girls and Monsters. We would add, that TBWCYL. Inc. spokersperson Ben Tanzer recently had the chance to interview Peter at the Orange Alert and we think it is quite sublime. Sunday, January 17, 2010
[PANK]. Haiti. Donate. Hit it.
[PANK] is doing a most excellent thing. Between January 13, 2010 and February 13, 2010 it is donating all direct sales of its magazines and forthcoming chapbook How to Take Yourself Apart, How to Make Yourself Anew by Hobart's Aaron Burch to the relief efforts in Haiti. We think this is awesome. We have made our purchase. And we hope that if you can afford it, you will consider doing so as well. It may not change your life, but it may most definitely change someone else's.

Interview love, new friends and old, some are silver and the others are gold.
Quite excited we are, were, are, to have stumbled into interviews from friends old and new, first long-time friend Jason Jordan, editor of decomP and the author of the quite fine short story collection Powering the Devil's Circus, has a new interview up on Pank, and second, much, much newer friend Stephanie Johnson of the quite captivating and recently blurbed here short story and flash fiction collection One of These Things Is Not Like The Others has an interview up at HTMLGIANT. Good stuff all-around, so please take a look and let their words wash over you like literary surf. Yeah, we have no reason why we went all metaphor on you just then, but that said, did it work for you?
