New reading series. The Parlor. Pretty, pretty cool.

There is a new and totally cool monthly reading series being launched here in Chicago called The Parlor. It is a spin-off of the most excellent art talk podcast Bad At Sports and the idea is that authors will read for 30 minutes in front of a live audience at the Green Lantern art gallery, do 30 minutes of Q&A, and then the whole show will be released as a podcast. Tonight's the debut and the very talented Jonathan Messinger is their first ever guest. While, this is not so shocking really, the dude rocks, you may be surprised to learn that next month's guest is none other than TBWCYL, Inc. spokesperson Ben Tanzer, who will be reading from Lucky Man, but is also looking to read from the new novel Most Likely You Go Your Way and I'll Go Mine and possibly a new short story called "Cool, Not Removed" as well. The show is scheduled for March 4th at 7:00pm, it's free and should be way fun. So we hope you will consider coming out, who knows, it just might change your life.

Saw Mr. Messinger tonight. This series is indeed amazing and Mess was spectacular, reading the first chapter from his novel-in-progress which will be fantastic from what I can tell. I promptly awarded him five stars when he was finished. A good time was had by all and that is super rad, Ben, that you are up next. See ya there!

We do hate to follow Jonathan, on the other hand, we lower the bar for whoever comes next, and in that way we feel like we're giving back.
