Clear eyes. Full hearts. Can't lose. FNL. Damn.

You well know that This Blog Will Change Your Life maintains a fairly tight focus when it comes to content and mission. First and foremost, all things Lucky Man. Second, celebrating independent media and independent everything. Third, Elizabeth Crane, and when we're especially weak Diane Lane. Fourth, coffee, as needed. And fifth, reality television, when it just can't be avoided. Well, thanks to the writers strike we now have to take a moment and recognize our newest obsession even as we fully concede that this new obsession constitutes some significant mission drift. The obsession is Friday Night Lights, which can be streamed on Netflix and NBC.com. Where once we engulfed the entire first season of 24 on DVD, staying up all night for days on end until our eyes were bloodshot, and hands were shaking from exhaustion and the non-stop tension, we are now all about the Lights and consuming it in all its glory. It's not even television, its more like a great song, or play, full of pain, Jason's paralysis, small pleasures, Lila's smile, pathos, Riggin's drinking, young love, Lila and Jason, lust, Lila and Riggins, and endless anxieties, Voodoo's eligibility, Smash's steroid use, every play of every game, not to mention Saracen becoming QB One even as his dad serves in Iraq, his grandmother slips into dementia, and the coach's daughter wants nothing to do with him. You know, we ask ourselves what we have been doing all this time when we weren't watching it? Going to work? Writing? Raising children? Sleeping? Blogging? Well, no more. We are prepared to follow the Dillon Panthers, not to mention the luminescent Connie Britton and awfully sexy Kyle Chandler, yeah, we love them, to the ends of the earth if we have to. It's a calling. A mission. We have no choice. Clear eyes. Full Hearts. Can't lose. Long live the Lights.

Wow, I knew I was a muse but I didn't realize I was part of the mission!

We had a management team meeting here at headquarters and decided to just go ahead and formalize it. Your status remains firmly entrenched as "muse," but we decided not to be so informal or cavalier about it going forward when we talk to funders. We hope though that you won't take this as a pressure, or think you need to do anything any different. Your utter Craneness remains spot-on and we wouldn't ask you to change a thing. Please just think of it as more of a business decision and don't hesitate to let us know if you want to see the official minutes.

I would love to see the minutes, but I think my ego would fly out of control, and I'm going to trust that everything is in right order with you at the helm of the mission.

We appreciate that, we're all about trust here at TBWCYL, Inc. That and transparency. And synergy of course.
