This Book Will Change Your Life - Briefly Knocked Unconscious By A Low-Flying Duck - Stories From 2nd Story.

Sometimes things fall into your lap and quickly become clear that they are gifts, unexpected, and surprising, never once having appeared on your radar in the first place. That once happened to us when were offered tickets to a Beck show at the Aragon before Beck was Beck and it became this wonderfully twisty thing that left us with the sense that something had happened quite by accident that was going to linger and serve as a touchstone long after the experience itself had begun to fade. All of which is to say, we get an email, and we are asked if we want to read an ARC for Briefly Knocked Unconscious By A Low-Flying Duck - Stories From 2 Story, which isn't coming out until November. And that is cool. We get such emails on occasion, and on this occasion, there are stories from 2nd Story, the long-running Chicago lit institution. The stories are by any number of authors we know, or have met, heard of, or not, but they are all here in Chicago somewhere, or were, and yes, we are biased, but we dive-in, and the stories are moving, and funny, and everything. Some stand-out more than others maybe, to us anyway, those by Deb R. Lewis, Julia Borcherts, J. Adams Oaks, and Molly Each, but they are uniformly engaging, and they are nonfiction, and as we recently thought after reading Legs Get Led Astray by Chloe Caldwell, we don't read enough of that, so lost in fiction as we are. But what a treat, the genre, the writers, and the Chicagoness of it all. As we said, sometimes things come to you, and they're like a gift, and this collection is a gift, and it will linger, so please do take a look, because it just might change your life.
