This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, Week Fifty-One - "New."

And so it is Week Fifty-One of This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, our soon to end year-long effort to post one self-portrait per week for one year. It has been beautiful and at times profoundly moving, but soon it will be no more. That said, this week we are dedicated to the new. New haircut. New year. New writing. And a new self-absorbed photo-centric project that will roll-out soon. So please stay-tuned, please feel free to follow the project in its entirety at the Flickr and please have a Happy New Year. Cool? Thanks.

Beach. Read. Sea lions. Beach. Read. Run. Tide pools. Windy. Swim. Write. Read. Breakfast goodness. Zoo. Fish and Chips. Fresh. Read. Run. Walk. Sun. Run. Family. Read. Kind sushi. Home. Did we mention that we were back? Good. Did we also mention that it is Week Fifty of This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, our effort to post one self-portrait per week for one year? No? Now we have. This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, Week Forty-Nine - "Decade."

It is Week Forty-Nine of This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, our quite self-absorbed focus on posting one self-portrait per week for one year and this week we have been rocking the top movies, books, records and television shows of the decade at the TBWCYL, Inc. And it has been good. Hasn't it? We hope so. We also hope you have enjoyed following the project on the Flickr and that you might still consider hitting us with a self-portrait all your own that we can post right here on This Blog Will Change Your Life. That would be cool wouldn't it? Indeed.

This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, Week Forty-Eight - "Readings."

It is week Forty-Eight of This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, our most triumphant effort to post one self-portrait per week for one year and this week was filled work travel and readings in both Pittsburgh and Morgantown. It was big fun and we want to offer big thanks to Karen Lillis, Scott McClanahan, Savannah Schroll Guz, Craig Bernier, Jim McKay, the Te Cafe and The Bookshelf. We also want to be sure you know that one, you can follow this project in its entirety at the Flickr and two, you can see a self-portrait all your own right here at This Blog Will Change Your Life. Just hit us with one and we will take it from there. Really. We're good like that.

This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, Week Forty-Seven - "Virus Redux."

It is Week Forty-Seven of This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, our awesomely self-absorbed effort to post one self-portrait per week for one year. That said, we have run into some technical difficulties this week here at TBWCYL, Inc. headquarters. There is virus. The computer has crashed. Photo uploading is fraught. And worlds collide. Breathe. Meanwhile, if you would like to follow this project in its entirety you may do so at the Flickr and if you would like to see a self-portrait all your own posted right here at This Blog Will Change Your Life feel free to hit us with one and our crack staff will take it from there. For reals.

This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, Week Forty-Five - "Trifecta."

It is Week Forty-Five of This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, our wholly self-absorbed effort to post one self-portrait per week for one year. In fact, it has been quite a week for the increasingly massive TBWCYL, Inc. media empire. There has been a new edition of This Zine Will Change Your Life, a new episode of This Podcast Will Change Your Life and now this, in other words, a rare TBWCYL, Inc. trifecta. Can you feel the love? We knew you could. Meanwhile, if you would like to follow this project in its entirety you may do so at the Flickr, and if you would like to see a self-portrait all your own here at This Blog Will Change Your Life just hit us with it. Cool? Nice.

This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, Week Forty-Four - "Book Club."

It is Week Forty-Four of This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, our wonderfully self-absorbed effort to post one self-portrait per week for one year, and this week we are all Book Club. Now why is that you might ask? Because this week we were invited to discuss Most Likely You Go Your Way and I'll Go Mine at a local book club. Which we did. We also ate. Drank. And had much fun. Much. At this point you may be wondering if we would be happy to visit your book club as well. We would, so please feel free to invite us and we will be there. With bells on. In the interim though you may be wondering if you can follow this project in its entirety, you can, on the Flickr, and whether you can somehow see a self-portrait all your own posted right here on This Blog Will Change Your Life. You can do that as well. Just send one. Cool? Cool.

This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, Week Forty-Three - "When I Write About Running."

It is week forty-three of This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, our wholly self-absorbed effort to post one self-portrait per week for one year. This week we are reading What I Talk About When I Talk About Running by Haruki Mirakumi and soon we are going to write a piece about the relationship between running and writing, or at least our compulsions in both areas and how they must somehow intersect. No, for real, we're going to. In the interim though if you would like to follow this project in its entirety you may do so at the Flickr. And, if you would like to see a self-portrait of your very own posted right here at the blog, just send us one and we will know what to do with it after that. We promise. We're professionals.

It is Week Forty-Two of This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life our terribly self-absorbed effort to post one self-portrait per week for one-year. And, if you would like to see a self-portrait of you very own posted right here at This Blog Will Change Your Life, well, you can, just hit us with one and we will take it from there. Cool? Cool.

This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, Week Forty-One - "Fourth Quarter."

It is Week Forty-One of This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, which means we are now into the fourth quarter of our self-absorbed effort to post one self-portrait per week for one year. It also means that the completion of this project now looms and sadness reigns here at TBWCYL, Inc. headquarters. Still, we will persevere because we know how important this effort is to you. We also know that you may want to follow the project in its entirety, so please feel free to so at the Flickr. Finally, we suspect that some of you have been wondering what it would take for us to post a self-portrait of your very own right here at This Blog Will Change Your Life? You see, there is this POV documentary of the same title and we were asked to write an opinion piece in response to it. Then there was a screening at the Erickson Institute followed by a panel discussion and we sat on the panel. And now we have taken a self-portrait. So there you go. Now, if you would like to follow this project in its entirety you may do so at the Flickr. And if you would like to see a self-portrait of yourself posted right here on the blog you may do that as well. Just send us one okay? Cool.

This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, Week Thirty-Seven - "Dear Everybody."

It is week Thirty-Seven of This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, our effort to post one self-portrait per week for one year. We have just started reading Dear Everybody by Michael Kimball, hence the title of this week's edition, and while we promise to report back to you when we finish the novel, our prediction at this point? This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, Week Thirty-Six - "L'shana Tova."

In a contradiction we are all to well aware of this week's edition coincides with the new year and a time of self-reflection, not self-absorption. So, we will keep it brief and move on to the housekeeping. If you want to track this project in its entirety you may do so at the Flickr. If you want to see a self-portrait of your own posted right here on the blog, we would really like to be of help, so feel free to hit us with one and our crack staff will take over from there. Otherwise, happy new year, be good and be healthy.

This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, Week Thirty-Five - "Bad Monkey."

It is Week Thirty-Five of This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, our effort to post one self-portrait per week for one year, and this week we are all "Bad Monkey." More specifically we are reading Bad Monkey by Curtis Smith and it is the goods. We will report back shortly on our overall reactions, but in the interim please feel free to follow this project in its entirety on the Flickr and maybe even send us a self-portrait of your own, which we in turn would be thrilled to post right here on This Blog Will Change Your Life. This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, Week Thirty-Four - "PaintWriteDeathLifeArt."

It is Week Thirty-Four of This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, our endlessly self-absorbed effort to post self-portrait per week for one year, and this week we have titled our self-portrait "PaintWriteDeathLifeArt," because one, we were thrilled to attend a retrospective of TBWCYL, Inc. spokesperson Ben Tanzer's father Michael Tanzer's work as an artist, and two, we were honored to have been invited to read something at the preview show for the retrospective and decided to read an excerpt from PaintWriteDeathLifeArt (Sketches from a life in art) a piece originally published in decomP. To say it was quite cool all-around is an understatement, but there you go, it was cool, and overwhelming, and all of that. Meanwhile, while we want to invite you to follow this project in its entirety at the Flickr, we also want to invite you to send us a self-portrait of you very own which we will post right here at This Blog Will Change Your Life. But then you knew that, right?

Saturday, August 29, 2009

This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, Week Thirty-Three - "Brother."

It is Week Thirty-Three of This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, our fully self-absorbed effort to post one self-portrait per week for one year. This week the brother came to town. Beer was drunk. Hamburgers were consumed. And bondage ensued. Er, bonding. And now for some housekeeping. First, if you want to track this project in its entirety you may do so at the Flickr. And second, if you would like to see your very own self-portrait posted right here on the blog just send one to TBWCYL, Inc. headquarters and our crack staff will take over from there. Cool? Cool.

This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, Week Thirty-Two - "New Stuff."

It is Week Thirty-Two of This Self-Portrait Will Change Your Life, our terrifically self-absorbed effort to post one self-portrait per week for one year. This week's self-portrait is titled "New Stuff" because well, we're working on some new stuff, dad stuff, and there's some Bruce Springsteen in there as well, and we'll see where it goes. We will also keep you apprised of our progress. We promise. In the interim though, please feel free to track the project in its entirety at the Flickr and if you feel so inclined please also feel free to send us a self-portrait of yourself and we will be happy to post it right here at This Blog Will Change Your Life. No, really, we will, try us.
